William "Will" Scarpa, 31, of Westwood, lost his courageous four year battle with glioblastoma on Monday, November 25, 2024. Will is survived by his parents, Joyce Scherber and John Scarpa, and his brother Anthony “Tony” Scarpa, all of Westwood. He will be missed by friends and relatives who loved and supported him.
Will was born in Guatemala on November 12, 1993, and came home to his forever family on August 21, 1994. Will loved animals, whether he was volunteering at the Animal Rescue League or simply playing with the family dog. In 2011, Will attained the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 1 Islington, completing many improvements at the Animal Rescue League facility in Dedham for his Eagle Project. After graduating from Westwood High in 2012, Will attended American International College and Bridgewater State University, where he studied elementary education. He wanted nothing more than to be a teacher and continued to work towards that goal. He spent many summers as a camp counselor and worked as an extended day teacher for Westwood Public Schools. Will was an avid collector of all things Godzilla and enjoyed attending several Godzilla Fan Festivals. He enjoyed movies of all kinds, and Broadway musicals.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., Westwood on Monday Dec. 2nd from 10am – 11:30am. Following the Visitation, there will be a Celebration of Life Service for William in the funeral home. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Will's memory may be made to the Joe Andruzzi Foundation to assist New England cancer patients and their families with much needed financial support. Gifts may be mailed to: Joe Andruzzi Foundation, 49 Plain Street, Suite 500, North Attleboro, MA 02760 or donate online at www.joeandruzzifoundation.org, or to the Animal Rescue League of Boston (Dedham Branch) at www.arlboston.org.
