William "Bill" McCarron passed away peacefully after a short illness, with his wife Peg and daughter Kathryn by his side. He was predeceased by his son Billy and his parents William McCarron and Rita (Lynch) McCarron. Bill was born on June 11, 1940 and grew up in Danvers, MA before starting a family of his own and becoming a longtime resident of Westwood. Bill enjoyed spending time at the family summer home with his siblings Robert McCarron, Geraldine (McCarron) Landers, and John (Jack) McCarron who also predeceased him. Bill was also the proud grandfather of Chloe McCarron and Chelsea McCarron who live in California with his daughter-in-law Suzanne (Smith) McCarron.
From a young age Bill developed a very strong work ethic, something he instilled in both his children. At the age of 8 y/o Bill became an altar boy at his local parish. He later had a weekly paper route, worked in the fields of a local farm, and was a grammar school safety officer. After graduating from high school, Bill was a short order cook before enlisting in the US Army where he worked as a laboratory technician and a medic. Bill then later enlisted in the US Army Reserve. Upon entering the workforce at Cambridge City Hospital Bill worked in their clinical lab while also attending classes at Northeastern University for Business Management. He later worked for Becton, Dickinson and Company. A multinational medical technology company where he was responsible for setting up new laboratories and training the staff on the usage of the new laboratory systems. He later worked for New England Engineers and Design, helping to place personnel in companies specializing in engineering.
As a young father, Bill was involved in both Billy and Kathryn's sports and other activities. He was a coach for Westwood Youth Hockey and Westwood girls softball. He assisted with the Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby and proudly performed with Kathryn in her figure skating ice show on Father's Day. Bill's greatest joy came from his son and daughter attaining both their educational and career goals. He supported them in all of their endeavors. Bill was also proud of his wife Peg, often referring to her as his very own special nurse.
Bill was a dedicated family man who always provided for his wife and children. After earning his retirement, Bill and Peg split their time between the Cape with dear friends at Hidden Harbors in Hyannis and then fellow Snowbirds and longtime friends in Boynton Beach, Florida. While living in Hyannis Bill worked part time with Hyline Cruises and on his off days enjoyed traveling all around the villages of Cape Cod. While living in Boynton Beach, Bill and Peg kept busy volunteering for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office in their Citizens on Patrol program (COPS) and enjoyed traveling up and down the southeast coast of Florida. They also really looked forward to their walks along the beach, the Intracoastal inlet, Green Kay, and the Wakodahatchee wetlands. And through it all Bill was always accompanied by one of his many faithful four-legged companions Chelsea, Tori, or Max.
