DONELIN – Thomas R. Jr., age 60 of Westwood, formerly of Quincy, died November 16th 2013 at Beth Israel Hospital after a brief courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Beloved son of the late Thomas R. and Mary C. (Mulvehill) Donelin. Loving brother of Patricia A. Donelin of Norwood, Kathryn Donelin of Westwood and Clare Mazza and her husband Kevin of Quincy. Devoted uncle of Bridget, Emily and Grace Mazza. Cherished nephew of Margaret M. Sullivan of Brewster and Reverend John R. Mulvehill, pastor of Saint Anthony Parish, Cohasset. Also survived by many loving cousins and friends.
Tom was raised in Quincy and spent the past 24 years in Westwood. He was a 1971 graduate of Boston College High School and 1975 graduate of Saint Anselm College, Manchester, NH with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. He went on to earn a degree in Pharmacy from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy.
Tom worked as a pharmacist at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Faulkner Hospital, and Whidden Memorial Hospital. He was passionate about retail pharmacy and the opportunity it offered to interact with customers. He worked at various retail pharmacies including Osco, Brooks, and Rite Aid Pharmacies. As owner of Holbrook and Quincy's Naborhood Pharmacies he enjoyed a personal relationship with his customers. Toms' gift was in counseling patients; he was "your neighborhood pharmacist". Tom was a counselor, advisor, friend and mentor to all.
Tom was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan and participated in several dart leagues on the South Shore. An accomplished cook, he took pleasure in experimenting with new recipes. Tom appreciated the arts and music and took great pride in his Irish heritage. Toms' true love was his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St. (off Route 109) Westwood on Friday Nov. 22nd from 4-8pm. The funeral will begin at the funeral home on Saturday morning Nov. 23rd at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Denis Church, 157 Washington St., Westwood at 10:30am. Interment at Saint Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Thomas' memory to Saint Anselm College, 100 Saint Anselm Dr., Manchester, N.H. 03102.
