Sidney Albert Tratenberg, of Westwood, MA passed away on Nov. 6, 2022 after a brief period of failing health. Sid was born August 19, 1925 in Dorchester MA. Drafted into the Army near the end of WWII, he was stationed in Wales for the duration of his tour of duty. He never forgot those days and spoke of his experiences often. Upon returning to the states, he used his GI benefits to further his musical education at the Berkley College of Music. Sid's talent and dedication served him well as he took up performing solo at events, supporting musical acts, and ultimately settling in to teaching piano for over forty years from the 1960's through the 2000's. If someone in the Westwood area took piano lessons during that time, they probably did so from Sid. When Sid wasn't at the piano (which was rare) he was busy following politics, veterans affairs and planning trips overseas with Ann. He met his partner in life Ann in the 1940's at a nightclub in Boston and they lived in Westwood all their married life. Sid will be remembered as the center of all the gatherings he attended where he kept the party going with his skillful playing and lively personality. He was predeceased by Ann, his wife of over 60 years, his brother George and his sister Marion. Sid leaves behind his older sister Beatrice, brother and sister-in-law Ken and Lois Webster and many nieces and nephews.
