Killelea - Roger F. of Westwood, 91, died peacefully surrounded by his family on January 16, 2011. Roger was the devoted husband of 68 years to Edith (Iadonisi). He was the son of the late Timothy and Annie Killelea, also of Westwood and brother of the late Mary Striker and Anne Hanlon. He is survived by his children: Roger Jr. and his wife Mary Lou of Walpole; Timothy and his wife Judith of Westwood; Patricia Jacobsen and her partner Kathleen Galligan of Brockton; Anne Bergen and her husband Thomas Nolan of Franklin; Mary and her husband Thomas Burke of Marshfield; and Peter and his wife Winnie Greene of Dover. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Roger III, Patrick, Nancy, Michelle, Christine, Kate, Amy, Abby, Marykate, Kelly, Kevin, Rose, Annie, and Peter, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Roger was born in Boston and lived most of his life in Westwood. He is a veteran of World War II, U.S. Army. Throughout his life, Roger was a dedicated and ever-present member of the Westwood community. For over 40 years, he served the people of Westwood as a pharmacist at the Islington Pharmacy. Roger was also the last surviving charter member of the Westwood Rotary Club and a former member of the Westwood Finance Committee and the original Westwood High School Building Committee.
Roger’s legacy is his family; he valued family above all else and instilled those values in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Holden, Dunn, Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock Street (off Route 109), Westwood, on Friday January 21st from 4-8:00 pm. A celebration of Roger’s life will take place on Saturday afternoon January 22nd at 1:00 pm in the Apollo Restaurant, 615 Washington Street, Norwood. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roger’s memory to Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, Inc.
