Robert A. Runci, of Walpole, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at home on May 23, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on February 15, 1937, in Boston, Massachusetts, Robert was the beloved son of the late Augustus and Inez Runci. He was the devoted husband of the late Anna Runci, with whom he shared 46 wonderful years of marriage. Bob’s love and unwavering support were especially evident in the compassionate care he provided to Anna during her illness.
He is survived by his children: Debra and her husband Billy of Norfolk; Dianne and her husband David of Norwood; Robert and his wife Kathy of Londonderry, New Hampshire; and David of California. He was predeceased by his son Mark. Bob was a proud and cherished grandfather, known affectionately as “Grampa Bob,” to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy. He was also the brother of the late Anna Lawry of Simsbury, Connecticut.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was stationed in Brunswick, Maine. Following his service, he attended East Coast Aerotech and went on to work for Pan American Airlines. He later became a dedicated employee of J. Direnzo, where he spent 40 years as a master mechanic, earning respect for his skill, work ethic, and commitment.
Bob lived life fully and found joy in its simplest moments. He especially loved traveling the world with his wife Anna, spending time with his grandchildren, and keeping busy with the many activities that enriched his life and deepened his connections with family and friends. His spirit and love for those around him will be deeply missed.
Family and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Tuesday, June 2nd, from 4–7 PM at the Holden, Dunn & Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock Street, Westwood, MA 02090.
