Robert Benedict Kelleher Jr., a 46 year resident of Dover, MA, died suddenly, yet peacefully, at his home on November 8, 2009. He was 76.
Born in Brockton, MA, Robert was the son of Alice and Robert Kelleher. After his mother passed away, he was raised in Quincy, MA, by his father and his second wife, Helen Kelleher. Robert graduated from Boston College High School and Boston College with a degree in Physics. He later obtained a masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He was employed for over 40 years by GTE Corporation in Needham. After leaving GTE, his success continued while working at several other telecommunications companies.
Since retiring in 2005, Robert was very active in the Baystate Antique Auto Club, the Dover Historical Society, and the Boston College Alumni Association. He was an active communicant of the Church of the Most Precious Blood in Dover.
Robert was extremely close to his sister, Sister Alice Roberta Kelleher, of the Sisters of Notre Dame, who was eleven years his senior. She passed away in 2003.
Robert leaves his wife of 45 years, Anna Lou McPheeters Kelleher. Together they have four children, Elizabeth Forsythe of Las Vegas, Teresa of Dover, Ruth Mockus and her husband Edward of Whitinsville and Matthew of Waltham.He was a devoted grandfather to Jesse, Nicholas and Sean Forsythe of Las Vegas, NV, and Kelley and Erik Mockus of Whitinsville, MA.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St. (off Route 109) Westwood on Thursday Nov. 12th from 5-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning Nov. 13th at 10am in Most Precious Blood Church, 30 Centre St., Dover. Interment at Highland Cemetery, Dover.
