Robert J. Crowley - Adman, Husband, Father, Friend and All Around Great Guy
Robert J. Crowley of 471 High Street left this world for a more heavenly perch on April 20, 2010, he was 83 years old. Bob Crowley was much beloved by friends and family. Always ready with a smile, a bad joke and a cocktail, Bob was a joyous husband, great father, loyal friend, goofy but lovable Brother and Uncle, adored Grandfather and just a good person.
He was born on May 3, 1926 and grew up in Milton, MA with dear sister Anne and beloved brothers Billy and Brian. He graduated from Milton High. He attended Northeastern University where he got his BA in Marketing in 1951 and then on to Boston University earning his MS in Journalism.
He had a gift for turning a phrase and parlayed this talent into a career in advertising with his first job as a copywriter at J. Walter Thompson in NYC in 1952. Bob had a very successful career including ten years at Hill, Holliday in Boston and then starting his own ad agency Cosmopulos, Crowley & Daly in 1982. His copywriting career continued as editor-in-chief of the Shabby News, which just published its sixth edition last month.
He met the love of his life in 1952 and in 1955 married Ann Mary Connell and their love affair continued for over fifty years. They lived in Westwood, MA for the past 46 years raising their six children who still happily reside in the Boston area: Paul, Daughter-in-law Susan, Amy, Jane, Martha, Sarah & Jennifer. Lovingly known as Bobby to his grandchildren, he was true to his life motto "I may grow old, but I will never grow up". He was not just a grandfather, but a friend and playmate to his seven grandchildren: Hannah, Meg, Andy, Natalie, Alex, Christopher and Marcus.
Bob and Ann Crowley loved their family, their friends and they loved to travel. Planning and taking trips to Europe, Russia, the Caribbean and more was their passion. Paris held a special place in their hearts. Soul mates and the true loves of their lives, they are now traveling together again.
