BRAWLEY – Robert Lawrence of West Roxbury, Westwood, Norfolk and Harwich Port died May 13, 2011. He was 79. Beloved husband of Joan E. (McParland) Brawley. Bob grew up in West Roxbury and attended Boston College High School’49, Boston College ’53. He entered the US Army as an Artillery Officer and served 4 years. After the Army, he was employed by Boston Edison for 40 years as a systems analyst and was a pioneer in applying computers to the business world. Bob married Joan in 1958 and made Westwood their home for the next 30 years. Bob was very active in town youth sports programs and a big fan of BC football and hockey. He later moved to Norfolk and finally retired in Harwich Port where he enjoyed spending time with his family at Red River Beach.
In addition to Joan, his wife of 53 years, Bob is survived by his children Robert F. Brawley and his wife Maureen of Rehoboth, MA; James L. Brawley and his wife Jill of West Hartford, CT; and Joanne Zobbi and her husband Scott of Norfolk, MA. Grandfather of Kevin, Matthew, Thomas, and Caitlin Brawley of Rehoboth; Laura Brawley of West Hartford; and John, Matthew, and Timothy Zobbi of Norfolk. Brother of Margaret Brawley of Lexington; Jacqueline Sullivan of Brighton; Evelyn Hardiman of Norwood; and Mary Cleo Hatch of Embden Pond, ME. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Holden, Dunn, Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St. (off Rt. 109) Westwood on Wednesday May 18th from 4-8pm. The funeral will begin at the funeral home on Thursday morning May 19th at 9am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret Mary Church at 10am. Interment with military honors at New Westwood Cemetery.
