Rita McGill

McGILL – Rita (Santry), age 88 of Westwood, MA, formerly of Jacksonville, FL, died peacefully with family members present on December 30th, 2009.

Beloved wife of 60 years to the late Robert L. McGill. Loving mother of Robyn M. Garth and her husband Dale of Dedham, MA, Michael D. McGill and his wife Sandy of Fairbanks, AK and Robert L. McGill, Jr. and his wife Jill of Arlington, VA. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Rita was a graduate of Wesleyan College in Macon, GA and worked briefly for the Atlanta Constitution as a journalist and photographer before becoming a full-time homemaker and active volunteer. With her husband Bob, an engineer for Exxon, she lived in many places both in the U.S. and overseas, including Argentina, Libya, Italy, Holland, England and Alaska before retiring to Skidaway Island, GA and Jacksonville, FL.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday morning January 7th at 10am at St. Margaret Mary Church, Westwood, MA. Interment will be private.
