MacPherson, Raymond J., of Westwood, husband of the late June A. (Buckley) MacPherson, died peacefully on January 1, 2018 at age 89.
Ray was born in Boston in 1928 to John L. and Margaret (MacArthur) MacPherson and attended Hyde Park High School. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II, and proudly attended Boston College. Three days after graduating in 1954, he married June Buckley. Their marriage lasted until her death in 1998. He became an insurance broker in 1956 and was President of MacPherson Desmond Powers Insurance until his children finally let him retire in 2014. He served as President of the Westwood Rotary Club, Chairman of the Westwood Public Library Board of Trustees, and as an extraordinary minister. He was a life member of the MacPherson Clan Association. His love of travel took him to China, Australia, Egypt, and across Europe.
Ray is survived by daughter Anne Pendleton and her husband Don of Medfield; daughter Susan MacPherson and her husband Richard Davies of Hallowell, Maine; son Douglas J. MacPherson of York Harbor, Maine; son Glenn MacPherson of Needham; grandchildren Megan and Brett Pendleton; sister Dorothy Shanley of Marshfield; sister Lorraine Hannan of Westfield; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, John, and sisters Margaret, Ann, and Muriel.
Visiting hours: Friday, January 5, 3-7pm at Holden-Dunn-Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., Westwood. Funeral Mass: Saturday, January 6, 10am, St. Margaret Mary's Church of Westwood, followed by burial in New Westwood Cemetery.
