Raymond F. Balabanis

Balabanis, Raymond F., of Westwood, died March 9, 2017 at age 81, surrounded by his loving family. Devoted husband of the late Carole J. (Seufert) Balabanis. Loving father of Karen Nietzel and her husband Mark of Franklin and Cynthia Barenthaler and her husband Peter of North Attleboro. Adored Papa of Nicole and Andrea Nietzel and Kristen Barenthaler. Brother of Theodore Balabanis of Medway, Susan Mason of Dedham, Nancy Shea of Norwood. Predeceased by siblings Peter, William "Ronnie", David and Edward Balabanis, Mary Webber, Penelope Weber and William Cross. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Ray worked for the Town of Westwood Highway Department for 57 years, retiring as Senior Foreman in 2013.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., Westwood on Friday March 17 from 4-8pm. Funeral procession from the funeral home on Saturday morning March 18 at 9am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Denis Church, 157 Washington St., Westwood at 10am. Interment with military honors at New Westwood Cemetery. Ray was a U.S. Army Veteran. Donations may be made in Ray's memory to Hale Reservation, 80 Carby Street, Westwood, MA 02090.
