Peter Tjahjadi, 87, of Norwood, MA, died September 14, 2022 at his home in Norwood, MA with his wife of 59 years by his side.
He was born March 14, 1935 in Bogor, Indonesia, to Tjan Kiem Siang and Liem Tjiang Nio (Nary).
Peter is survived by his wife Gladys; son Janto and wife Agustina; daughters Mila and husband Joseph; Cecilia and husband Thomas; and four grandsons Matthew, Nicholas, Jack, and Andrew.
Peter leaves behind countless friends and acquaintances that respected and adored him for his engaging personality, genuine friendliness, reliability, and sense of humor.
Raised in Bogor, Indonesia, Peter excelled in school and launched a successful career in the automobile industry. At age 49, he and Gladys made the difficult decision to move their family to the U.S., where they made a home in Easton, Mass. He then re-launched a successful career at Johnson & Johnson followed by the U.S. Postal Service, while his three children earned college educations and launched their own careers.
He was the patriarch of his family – loving, kind, knowledgeable, trustworthy, and very meticulous.
Peter was an active member of his Church; enjoyed watching all sports, especially international soccer and tennis; and was enthusiastic about fresh fruit and tasty food. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family.
