Peter A. Knapp

September 21, 1940 — May 17, 2026

Dover, MA & Quincy, MA

Peter A. Knapp of Dover, formerly of Quincy, passed away on May 17, 2026. He was the beloved husband of the late Emma M. Knapp (McLaughlin) and a devoted father to Martha K. DePaola and her husband, Greg, of Dover; Katharina E. Knapp of Stoughton; and Peter A. Knapp, Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of North Carolina. He was the cherished grandfather of William and Harrison DePaola, and Nicholas, Kylie, Nathan, and Kortney Knapp. Peter was also the dear brother of the late Erich, Gisela, Hedy, Hubert, Liz, Marian, Mina, and Stefan, and a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. In addition to his family, he leaves behind his devoted Labrador, Finn.

Peter will be remembered for his sharp wit, admirable honesty, and the deep love he had for his family. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures – working on a puzzle, brewing a good cup of coffee, and watching sports with his grandchildren. He was a gifted storyteller who loved sharing memories, especially stories rooted in his German heritage. Peter had a way with words and a sense of humor that made time with him unforgettable. The stories and sayings he leaves behind will continue to bring comfort, laughter, and connection to those who loved him. He is greatly missed and will be carried in our hearts every day.
