DALTON, Peter Joseph, Jr., 81, of Walpole died peacefully at his home on October 16, 2018 after a short illness.
He grew up in Westborough and raised his own family in Westwood, where he served as town accountant for 20 years. Peter enjoyed his retirement by studying computers and liberal arts at community colleges, joining events at the senior center, and walking for hours on the side streets of Walpole and surrounding towns. He was in the Army for 2 years and talked fondly of his time in Germany while he served.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Fran, and their two daughters and their families: Annette and Diane of Walpole, and their daughter Jessie, and Colleen and Masanao of Nagano, Japan, and their children Elena and Tetsuro. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert of Washington DC and Michael and wife Lynda of South Dennis, his sister-in-law Helene and husband Paul of Blackstone, and his nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday morning October 26th at 10am in St. Timothy's Church, 650 Nichols St., Norwood. Following the Mass, Peter's family will greet friends as they exit the church. Interment will be at Old Westwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peter's memory to the Walpole Senior Center, 135 School St., Walpole, MA 02081 or to VNA Hospice & Palliative Care at www.vnacare.org/donors.
