Patricia Marie (Kerr) Willett, died peacefully on September 3, 2023. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, Fred T. Willett. Loving mother of Fred Jr. and his wife Sonja of Burnt Hills, NY, Stephen and his wife Vera of Norwood, Christopher and his wife Kimberly of West Yarmouth, and Gregory and his wife Carol of Wakefield. Devoted grandmother of Luke, Eli, Tony, Teddy, Patrick, Katherine, and Sean. Predeceased by siblings Margaret McSweeney, Anna Burke, and James Kerr. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Patty was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Ireland and then Norwood. She was a 1950 graduate of Norwood High School and lived in Norwood for many years before moving to Westwood in 1977. She was most recently a resident of New Pond Village in Walpole. After high school, she attended Burdett Business College. She returned to school in the 1970s and earned an A.S. in accounting from Massachusetts Bay Community College. She was employed in the finance department of The Education Cooperative until her retirement.
Pat was active in several church and community organizations. She was close to her lifelong friends from Norwood and had several good friends at New Pond Village. She was fond of strawberry ice cream sundaes, fried scallops, good books, and chats with her grandchildren. Those who knew her well will remember her for the selflessness, compassion, fortitude, and love she showed as she cared for her husband Fred during his long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., Westwood on Friday Sept. 8th from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Timothy’s Church, 650 Nichols St., Norwood on Saturday morning Sept. 9th at 10:30am. Interment following the Mass at New Westwood Cemetery.
