STRANG - Patricia Hansen (Thompson), 90, of Westwood, MA, formerly of Wellesley, MA, Marblehead, MA and Vero Beach, FL, passed away peacefully after a long illness on January 30, 2014.
She was born in Lowell, MA. Patricia was predeceased by her husbands, Howard E. Hansen and Arthur I. Strang, her sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Goode, and her brother, P. Gardner Thompson.
She is survived by her daughters; Kristina H. Wardwell (Stephen) of Dover, MA; Lisa H. Burditt (Timothy) of Saratoga Springs, NY; 5 grandchildren: Elise Burditt, Leslie Wardwell Scott, Hilary Burditt, Anne Wardwell and Alex Burditt. In addition, she is survived by 2 nephews, Chip and Andy Goode, her twin sister's sons who were the sons she never had. She is also survived by 3 stepchildren and 3 step grandchildren.
Pat and her twin, Betty, were dedicated to organizing many family ski and beach vacations and holiday gatherings over the years. Pat also devoted much of her time to volunteering in garden clubs, altar guilds and service organizations (including the Wellesley Junior Service League, the Junior League of Boston and the Boston Children's Service Association). She took great pleasure and worked tirelessly in many volunteer positions for the Boston Symphony Orchestra, including as Chairwoman of the Council of Friends of the BSO, Chairwoman of the Musical Marathon and member of the Board of Overseers. She was a former member of the National Society of Colonial Dames, and was an active member of numerous clubs through the years; including The Chilton Club, Wellesley Country Club, The Moorings, and Eastern Yacht Club. She also loved gardening and traveled extensively with her second husband, Bud.
A memorial service will be celebrated at St. Andrew's Church in Wellesley, MA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her memory be made to the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Attention: David Grant, Symphony Hall, 301 Massachusetts Ave., Boston, MA 02115 (www.bso.org) or to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472 (or www.alz.org).
