Delaney, Patricia (Beatty), of West Roxbury, Dedham, Westwood and Boston died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family on January 24, 2019. She was predeceased by Deacon Joseph L. Delaney, her husband of 67 years. She leaves three children and their spouses: Mary and Thomas Hennessey of Wellesley, Joanne and Joseph Delaney III of Milton, and Joanne and Joseph Burke of Newmarket, N.H. She leaves behind ten grandchildren: Patricia Helm, Meghan Hennessey and Thomas Hennessey III, Jay Delaney, Michael Delaney, and Elizabeth Delaney-Lobo, Patricia McKenna, Kathleen Burke, Ellen Duffy and Peter Burke as well as 12 great grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Mary Moore Beatty and John F. Beatty. She was predeceased by her sisters Mary Muse and Bernadette Leber of Boston, and her brother John F. Beatty of Bal Harbour, Florida. A graduate of Emmanuel College, Class of 1944, she then attended Boston College School of Social Work. As a social worker, Pat served children and families, and for many years, cared for the geriatric population. She was a founding member of the Boston City Hospital Charity Fund, dedicated to meeting the unique needs of indigent patients. Pat's lifetime commitment to Catholic ministry included teaching CCD, serving hospitals as a Eucharistic Minister, and developing a vibrant marriage preparation program. Pat was an active partner with Joe during his 30 plus years as a Deacon. Pat was loving wife, an amazing mother, mentor and a dear friend to many. The world is a better place because of her wit, her kindness, her courage and most generous spirit.
Visiting hours will be celebrated at Holden-Dunn-Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., WESTWOOD, on Sunday Jan. 27th from 3-6pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Margaret Mary Church, 845 High St., Westwood on Monday morning Jan. 28th at 10am. Interment at New Westwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Discalced Carmelite Nuns, Monastery of St. Therese, 15 Mount Carmel Road, Danvers MA 01923 or to Emmanuel College, attn. Sister Janet Eisner, SND., for Emmanuel College, 400 The Fenway, Boston, MA. 02115.
