It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Neil John Caulfield of Westwood on April 17, surrounded by his loving family. He was the cherished husband of Kathleen Kerrigan Caulfield, and devoted father to Kristina Caulfield Hatem and his son-in-law Andrew Hatem. Neil was the very best Papa to Christopher Neil and Emma Katherine, who filled him with pride and joy. He was also the brother-in-law to Jude Kerrigan O’Hara whom he loved like a sister.
Neil was born to William and Margaret (Smith) Caulfield in Brookline. He grew up with five siblings Richard (Mildred), Maureen Flynn, Diane Davis (Teddy), and is predeceased by his siblings Edward and Mary, and his brother-in-law James. Neil served two tours of duty in the United States Naval Services and served on the Brookline Fire Department.
On April 17, 1971, he married the love of his life, and later moved to Westwood where they raised their daughter. He spent countless hours as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Denis Church, a member and Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, and a coach of youth soccer. His happiest memories were looking out at the ocean during summer vacations spent on Cape Cod in Sandwich and later in Barnstable Village. Neil will be remembered for his strength, kindness, generosity, but mostly for having the biggest of hearts.
Calling hours will be from 4-7 PM on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Holden-Dunn-Lawler Funeral Home on 55 High Rock Street in Westwood, MA. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 10 AM at St. Denis Church on 157 Washington Street in Westwood, MA.
