Nancy Jackson Elder, of Burlington, ONT, Walpole MA and Westwood, MA passed away quietly and content on August 17, 2025, at 94, with her family by her side, at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence RI after a recent decline in health.

Nancy was born in Chicago IL, December 23, 1930; She grew up in Springfield, Winthrop, Leominster & Marblehead MA where she graduated high school. A graduate of Westbrook Jr. College, Nancy moved to NY City where she lived in a YMCA youth hostel and began her life’s adventure. She met and married her first husband Quentin L Fox and settled in Larchmont, NY. There were moves that followed to Cos Cob, CT; Old Greenwich, CT; Los Angeles, CA and Westwood, MA.

While living in Larchmont, NY Nancy began her 68 year affiliation and participation with the national women’s group Philanthropic Educational Opportunities, (P.E.O). She was an active member in NY, CT, LA and a founding member of the P.E.O Chapter Q in Burlington, ONT. P.E.O was an important part of her life. A sisterhood for life and guaranteed friendship wherever she landed.

Nancy was an avid competitive bridge player; She loved the arts, museums & theater; She was a Docent for the Los Angeles County Art Museum and the Burlington Cultural Center, Burlington, ONT. Nancy enjoyed acting and directing in local theater groups including the Clapboard Tree Players and The Walpole Footlighters.

Nancy was employed at Instron Corporation for 13 years where she met many longtime friends including J. Bruce Elder of Burlington, Ontario. She married Bruce in 1985 and moved to Ontario where she lived and relished all Canada could offer for 36 years. She and Bruce continued their love of championship bridge, foreign and domestic travel, golf, theater and entertaining. They attended the Masters Golf tournament twice and The Wimbledon Championships. Nancy loved reading, history, crossword puzzles, and anything on PBS or BritBox.

Nancy returned to Massachusetts, New Pond Village, Walpole after the death of her husband Bruce in 2020. She was closer to her family who lovingly supported and cared for her. At NPV, she felt welcome and at home.

Nancy was a most resilient woman who always made lemonade from lemons. Through out her life and many homes she made life long friends. Nancy deeply missed her husband Bruce and friends in Canada and will be profoundly missed by her family and friends.

Nancy is survived by her children Malcolm E Fox, Reno, NV; Peter L Fox, Norwood, MA; Martha A.H Fox, (Dennis Geisser), Seekonk, MA; loving sister Ann Hinckley, (d. Charles Hinckley), Glen Allen, VA; grandchildren Daniel L Fox and Kristen L Fox. Other Relations Susan Elder, Kamloops, BC; Steven Elder, Tiny, ON; Sarah Lauer, Martinez, CA. Numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Elliott & Virginia Jackson; Husband J. Bruce Elder; Quentin L. Fox; her son Robert E. Fox;

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nancy’s memory to Philanthropic Educational Organization (educational loan fund-Chapter Q, Burlington, ON) at peointernational.org, who’s friendship & sisterhood will forever be in her heart or HopeHealth Hospice, Providence RI who gently and kindly cared for Nancy in her final months.

Services to be held September 14, 2:00 pm at the First Parish Church of Westwood, 252 Nahatan Street, Westwood, MA; Burial services will be private.
