Mary J. Sullivan of Newburyport, formerly of West Roxbury and Chestnut Hill, died April 11th, 2009 at age 90.
Beloved daughter of the late Dennis P. and Johanna J. (Shea) Sullivan. Loving sister of the late John J. Sullivan of Braintree and the late Elizabeth A. Supple of Westwood. Mary leaves nine nieces and nephews and their spouses: Maura Wadlinger of Rockport, Dennis Sullivan of Braintree, Eileen and Paul Shakespear of Cambridge, Mark Sullivan of Holbrook, John and Judy Sullivan of Metairie, LA, Mary Lou Supple and Richard Colburn of Newburyport, David Supple of Boston, Ellen Supple and Tom Dwyer of Newburyport and James Supple and Mary McDonald of Newbury.
She was predeceased by her nephew Michael Sullivan.
In addition, Mary leaves fourteen grandnieces and grand nephews, their spouses and children.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St. (off Route 109) Westwood on Friday April 17th from 2-6pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Saturday morning April 18th at 9am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret Mary Church at 10am. Interment at New Westwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary’s memory to the American Red Cross, 31 Green St., Newburyport, MA 01950.
Mary enjoyed a long teaching career, spanning four decades. For most of her career, Mary taught at the Lowell Mason elementary school, the only four room schoolhouse in the Boston Public Schools. In addition to teaching full time, Mary served as the onsite administrator. She loved her students and they loved her.
