Mary treasured her extended family of many nieces, nephews, and friends. She died surrounded by her large loving family.
Born in Jamaica Plain, MA on July 19, 1922. Mary graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School, class of 1940 where she was President of the Student Body. She attended Burdett College and Boston Business School.
Mary worked as a secretary at Recordack/Eastman Kodak Company, but her favorite job was for the Boston Public Schools for 16 years. She enjoyed being surrounded by children in an educational setting. She managed multiple schools as an Executive Secretary and returned to the schools from retirement to train and assist her successors.
Mary proudly held many leadership roles in various community groups and religious organizations including the Association of Retired State, County and Municipal Employees, the Theresians of St. Theresa Parish of West Roxbury and the Knights of Columbus' 110 Club of West Roxbury.
Mary enjoyed volunteering at Falmouth Elementary Schools, JML Care Center in Falmouth and various Senior Centers in Massachusetts and Florida.
Mary and her husband, Charlie lived happily in West Roxbury for 35 years before retiring to Falmouth Massachusetts and Pompano, Florida. Music and dance were a cornerstone of Mary's life providing great joy which she imparted to her family.
Mary's strong positive character and faith enabled her to meet and adapt to the many challenges throughout her life. She had a unique ability to understand and relate to all. Mary was a constant source of encouragement and inspiration for each one of her family members and everyone she encountered.
She will truly be missed but we will follow in her directive to "Make life beautiful, one day at a time" and to "Remember to always make a negative a positive! It is truly good for your health!"
