Mary Lou (Bensman) Thornton of Pocasset, formerly of Westwood, died June 10, 2015, age 75, after a long illness. Devoted mother of Ted and his wife Lisa of Scituate, Lynn Colebank and her husband Mark of Wake Forest, NC, and Lori Whelan and her husband, Brian of Walpole. Pre-deceased by husband, (Joseph) Brad, and son, Jack of Westwood, MA. Loving sister of Gene (and Wilma) Bensman, Ruth Ann (and Clarence) Meyer, Betty (and Don) Wehrman, Leonard Jr. (and Connie) Bensman, Rev. Gerald Bensman, Margie (and Bob) Zwiesler, John (and Jan) Bensman, Patty (and Peter) Cook and several nieces and nephews. Also survived by 10 loving grandchildren, Jacqueline, Joseph, Paige, Amy, John, Sarah, Jenna, Molly, Caroline and Paul.
Raised in Dayton, OH, she attended Holy Angels High School, Class of 1957 and University of Dayton, Class of 1962. Prior to retiring in 2001, she taught Special Education in Randolph School Department almost 20 years. Mary Lou enjoyed gardening, entertaining and being with her family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St. Westwood on Monday, June 15th from 4-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Margaret Mary Church, Westwood on Tuesday, June 16th at 10am. Interment at New Westwood Cemetery.
