Mary Henderson

Mary Henderson, 63 years young, of Norwood, MA formerly of Westwood, MA,
passed peacefully April 13, 2020 in Norwood Hospital, her place of birth. Daughter of the late Neil Henderson and Claire Keating Henderson of Westwood. Survived by her big sisters Claire Henderson of Avon, CT. and Katharine Hines of Norwell MA., her big brothers Richard Henderson and Robert Henderson both of Westwood and Jack Henderson of Colorado. The loving aunt of Susan Garratt, David Henderson, Daniel Henderson, Pam Henderson, Ryan Hines, Micaela Hines, Mary Kate Hines, Britni Rhinehart, and Nick Rhinehart. Also survived by her Sisters-In-Law Diane Henderson, Karen Henderson and Brother-In-Law Dennis Hines and Grand Nephews and Grand Nieces.
Mary was a pioneer, as a student and a client, in the early stages of the education and occupational training of citizens with Down Syndrome. Her dedication and participation revolutionized the methods and ways our society cares for and trains our children and adults with learning disabilities. Mary's quick wit, radiant smile and loving heart lit up the lives of all her family, friends and all those fortunate enough to have met her. The families deepest gratitude is extended to the Administration and the Staff of The ARC of South Norfolk for their dedicated and loving service to Mary for over 50 years.
A private interment will be held in Westwood, a Mass, and Memorial will follow and be announced in the future. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's name may be made to The ARC of South Norfolk, 789 Clapboardtree St. Westwood MA 02090.
