Kenneth MacGreggor Rowe of Milton, MA passed away on February 20, 2025, at the age of 80. Ken was the son of the late Harry A. Rowe and late Doris Hughes. He was a standout baseball and basketball player at Milton High School class of ‘62, and then also at UMass Amherst, graduating in 1966. Ken married his high school sweetheart, Elaine (Bello) Rowe (Milton ’62 & UMass ’67), in July of 1969. They remained attached at the hip as loving companions, best friends, business partners, and adoring soulmates for an incredible 55 years of marriage.
A resident of Westwood, MA, for 47 years, Ken’s life revolved around his family, his dogs and his friends. Ken was a loving and dedicated father of two. He worked tirelessly to provide every opportunity for his kids. Ken loved to coach, and spent endless hours on baseball fields, softball fields, basketball courts, hockey rinks, and swimming pools all across New England. If you played youth sports in Westwood during the 80’s, you either played for him or against him. Either way, Ken probably tried to teach you something and help make you better. Ken coached Girl’s AAU Travel basketball teams for years, guiding young athletes to extend their playing careers through high school, college and beyond. Along the way, he made lifelong friends with his players and parents alike.
Ken was a devoted grandfather who adored his five grandchildren. He was always the one to initiate mischief, making them laugh and oftentimes misbehave. He loved running his beloved dogs off leash at local fields and golf courses, collecting baseballs and golf balls just like his own dad had done. He was a successful business owner and salesman, whose smile, extravagant stories, and great head of silver hair could charm just about anybody. He loved to reminisce and laugh about hilarious escapades over the years. If you knew Ken, you most likely have some sort of story to fondly remember him by.
Ken is survived by his loving wife Elaine, whom he truly loved and adored. His brother Harry Rowe; son Jon Rowe and daughter in law, Michele; his daughter Wendy McDowell and son in law, Josh. He’s also survived by his five grandchildren Gail Rowe, Ella Rowe, Joseph Rowe, Cole McDowell and Christian McDowell. Lastly, his beloved labradors Blue and Lily.
