Westwood, Weston & Newton

Kenneth “Ken” Healey, age 85, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his family, after a brief illness, March 18, 2024. Ken was born in Waltham, MA on May 31, 1938 and was raised in Weston, MA, the son of the late William and Ella (Fulton) Healey.

Ken was a devoted family man who always put his family first. He shared his life with his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 62 years, “Dottie” Dorothy (White) Healey, who briefly survived him, passing away peacefully March 20, 2024, surrounded by their loving family. Father of four children, Kenneth Healey and his wife Patricia of Westwood, MA, Laureen Craven of Westwood, MA, Paul Healey and his wife Michelyn of Medway, MA and Virginia Gird and her husband Bill of Holliston, MA. “Papa” Ken will be lovingly remembered by his nine grandchildren, Kelly Healey, Kaitlin Healey, Ryan Healey, Julie Craven, Erin Craven, Melissa Craven, Lauren Healey, Jennifer Healey, and Nicole Newton. He is survived by his sisters-in-law Nancy Healey of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Virginia Seeley of Stone Mountain, GA and his brother-in-law Robert White of Dedham, MA, and sixteen nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother William P. Healey of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and his sister Anne M. Healey of Lincoln, MA.

Ken was a graduate of Weston High School where he developed a passion for sports. He was a 3-sport varsity athlete, a natural lefty and switch hitter, competing in baseball, basketball, and football. Ken, his brother Bill, and future brother-in-law Tom Healey, made up the “Healey Huddle,” recognized by the local sports pages. A lifelong sports fan, Ken enjoyed the Bruins, Patriots, Celtics, and Red Sox, attending spring training in Florida with brother Bill and friends. Ken enjoyed coaching his son’s baseball teams and hitting warm-up fly balls with a fungo bat.

For over 30 years, Ken was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, working for Richard White Sons Inc. as a heavy-equipment operator. His ambidextrous nature allowed him to seamlessly operate any piece of machinery from backhoes to cranes. After his retirement, Ken and Dottie spent time in Florida, eventually returning to Westwood to be close to their children and grandchildren, with whom they enjoyed many wonderful years.

Ken was a quiet man, of good wit and humor, and often a prankster. He loved his family and was ever-present in the lives of his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, dance recitals, and vocal performances, and spending time with family, laughing and making memories. Ken will be remembered as a dedicated family man, loyal friend and a true gentleman.
