Ke-chin ("KC") Wang of Dedham, Massachusetts, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020. He was the devoted husband of the late Shu-fang Wang. He is survived by his daughters, Addie (and husband Bob Perlis) and Audrey (and husband Albert Hung), as well his much-beloved grandchildren: Jeffrey Perlis (and wife Lauren), Daniel Perlis, Samantha Hung, and Jessica Hung. He was the proud GGP (great-grandpa) to Leah and Ethan Perlis. He is also survived by his siblings, Grace Chin and Alfred Wang.
KC grew up in China, the third of seven children. As a teenager, bored with high school, he swapped identity information with an acquaintance in order to matriculate early into college. There he got a degree in philosophy, which would surprise no one who engaged in a debate with him. He switched his field of study to chemistry, though, in order to emigrate to the US, where he earned a PhD. He and Shu married while they were both graduate students at the University of Wisconsin. He managed research and development in high temperature ceramics.
KC was an avid gardener and after work would check on his vegetables even before greeting his family, who called him "Farmer Brown" because of his farmer's tan. He loved art and classical music, and taught himself how to paint and play the violin. He was fun-loving and competitive – and not above trash-talking his opponents at mahjong, chess or ping pong. He loved noodles, spicy food and the occasional clove of raw garlic.
