GUIDI, Justin J., Sr. of Punta Gorda, FL formerly of Westwood and Weston, died September 3rd, 2016. Beloved husband of Ann Marcelle and the late Maureen (O'Hart) Guidi. Loving father to the late John N. Guidi and his wife Allison of Bar Harbor, ME; Sharon and George Kretschmar of Upper Saint Clair, PA; Kathryn Guidi of Plymouth; the late Justin J. Guidi, Jr.; and Barbara Guidi Kohler of Concord. Beloved brother of Elia Moon of Scarsdale, NY and the late Raymond Guidi and his wife Sophia Guidi of Marco Island, FL. Devoted grandfather to Carolyn and David Eaton; Sonja and Graham Kretschmar; Katlyn, Diane and Christine Ofstein; and Chad, Alyssa and Haley Kohler. Great-grandfather to Ben, Megan, Audrianna, Kaylee, Bentley, and Gizelle.
Justin was raised in Scarsdale by his parents, Nello and Mary Guidi, who emigrated from Italy. He was an accomplished scholar and athlete, studying Electrical Engineering at Clarkson University. He dedicated his career to leading Government Projects, the most memorable being the Ballistic Missile Early Warning System. He met Maureen (O'Hart) Guidi in Chicago following college, and they raised five children together. Justin and Maureen lived throughout the country but primarily in Cherry Hill, NJ, Weston and Westwood. They brought their children to live in Rome for a year, a very memorable time. Justin earned a Master's in Business Administration from the University of Akron. He holds patents and designed one of the first ATM machines, which cashed checks to the penny. After over 40 Years of marriage, Maureen passed. Justin later met and married Ann Marcelle. Justin and Ann spent 14 happy years in Burnt Store Marina, FL. During his final illness, Justin received outstanding care at Rivercrest in Concord. Justin's intellectual prowess was matched only by his strong devotion to his children and grandchildren. He was an honorable, brilliant yet humble man with an infectious smile.
Visiting hours will be in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St, Westwood on Wednesday, September 7th, from 4 to 8 pm. Funeral procession from the funeral home on Thursday, September 8th at 9 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Mary Church, 845 High Street, Westwood at 10 am. Internment at New Westwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Justin's memory to The Clarkson Fund of Clarkson University.
