Julia O'Toole (nee Costello), of Dedham Mass, formerly of Galway, Ireland, died on July 9, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Coleman O’Toole. Loving mother of Mary Sweeney and her husband Tony of Dublin, Ireland, Barbara O'Toole Cote and her husband Cary of Westwood, Gail Cummins and her husband Nick of London, England. Devoted grandmother to Sinéad, Rory, Sean, Mary, Kevin, Molly, Peter, and Andrew. Julia is survived by her brother Tommy Costello (Galway, Ireland) and predeceased by her parents Patrick and Nora Costello (Galway, Ireland), brother Coleman Costello (Galway, Ireland), her three sisters, Mary McDonagh (Norwood), Kathy Costello (South Boston) and Bridie Goggins (Mayo, Ireland) and three nephews Colm Costello, Padraic and Declan Goggins. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, sisters in laws, brothers in laws, cousins, and wonderful friends in Boston and Ireland.
A religious woman, rosary beads were always in her hands, and a prayer on her lips. Julia had a great devotion to St. Anthony.
Julia was a gifted cook, she had a passion for baking and an insatiable curiosity to experiment and refine recipes. Her joy was in sharing her recipes with everyone, delighting in the simple pleasure of receiving a sample in return.
Julia moved to Benchmark Senior Living in Norwood in 2017. She enjoyed her life there. She made a lot of new friends and enjoyed many activities and excursions. The family would like to thank all the staff at Benchmark Senior Living for all their love, support, and care.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., Westwood on Thursday, August 10th from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning August 11th at 10am in St. Margaret Mary Church, 845 High St., Westwood. Interment at New Westwood Cemetery.
