CLANCY, Leatrice "Joy" (Capuzzo) of Westwood, MA, passed away on February 7, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She is predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Joseph D. Clancy. Joy is survived by her three children and their spouses: Barbara Clancy MacLeod and Stephen of Stoneham, Linda Clancy and her late husband Dr. Arthur Gendron of Hopkinton, and Joseph Daniel Clancy Jr. and Carol of Canton. She was the proud grandmother of Keith MacLeod; Grant and Danielle Gendron, and Andrea Robidoux and her husband Max; and Joseph III and Mark Clancy. Joy was the great-grandmother of Quinn Robidoux. She is also survived by her siblings Hazel Swartz and Robert Capuzzo, and many loving nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by siblings Jack Capuzzo, Marilyn Sullivan, Florence Cleary, Ralph Capuzzo, and Cynthia Burns.
Joy loved living in the town of Westwood for over 65 years. She spent her career in education, working many years as a teacher in the Westwood Public School system and had the opportunity to work at every elementary school in town. She was highly active in the community throughout her life and served multiple roles on numerous local charitable organizations, highlighted by her volunteer work at Norwood Hospital and St. Margaret Mary's Church in Westwood. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education as well as a Master of Education in Early Childhood Education from Boston State College.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at Holden, Dunn, and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock Street, WESTWOOD, on Friday February 17th, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Margaret Mary's Church in Westwood on Saturday, February 18th at 10:00 am. Interment at New Westwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Margaret Mary's Church in Westwood or the Westwood Public Library for the purchase of large print books (westwoodlibrary.org).
