McCUSKER, Josephine J. "Josie" (Manocchio) August 15th. Survived by her husband Thomas P. McCusker Jr.; her brother Alex Manocchio and his wife Pauline of Franklin; her children, Joseph McCusker and his wife Missy of Pomfret, CT; Julie Krumsiek and her husband David of Westwood; Amy McCusker Pruitt and her husband Chad of Sausalito, CA; Thomas P. McCusker III of Roslindale; and Ellen McCusker Devlin and her husband Andrew of Doylestown, PA; her grandchildren, Elena, Joseph and Sean McCusker; Jane, Thomas, William and Katherine Krumsiek; Grace, Elizabeth and Teresa Devlin; and Josephine Pruitt. Josie also had many loving brothers and sisters in law, and nieces and nephews.
Josie was raised in Franklin, Massachusetts and graduated from Franklin High School with lifelong friends Barbara Molla, Lois Kane, Ronald Bucchanio, Sheila Anderson, Jeannie Taddeo and Beth Doherty. She matriculated at Stonehill College, where she met her husband Tom. They married soon after graduation and eventually settled in Westwood, where they raised their five children. Josie worked for years in the Westwood Public Library, a job she loved because she had wonderful colleagues and it allowed her to see so many of the friends she made in the Westwood community. Josie loved entertaining, and cherished hosting her extended family, as well as her many friends and her children's friends. For 30 years, she graciously and enthusiastically hosted the annual McCusker Christmas party, a family gathering which grew into a must-attend event for family and friends from near and far. In later years, Josie enjoyed vacationing with her children's families, especially welcoming her sun-kissed grandchildren back from the beach. In 2010, she traveled with her children to Macchiagodena, the tiny village in Italy from which her parents emigrated, where she met several long lost cousins. Josie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and all are blessed to have known her. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock Street, Westwood on Thursday August 18 from 4-8 pm. Funeral procession from the funeral home on Friday morning August 19th at 9 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Timothy's Church, 650 Nichols Street, Norwood, MA at 10am. Donations in Josie's memory can be made to the Julia Ruth House in Westwood, MA. Special thanks to the staff at the Ellis Rehabilitation of Norwood and the Stanley R. Tippett House of Needham.
