Joseph Paul Sucharewicz

March 15, 1950 — December 11, 2024

Lynn, MA

Joseph Paul Sucharewicz, a lifelong resident of Massachusetts, passed away on December 11, 2024. Born in Lynn, MA, to Joseph and Helen (Halas) Sucharewicz, Joe lived a life full of love, laughter, and devotion to his family, friends, and passions.

Joe graduated from Lynn Classical High School in 1968, where he proudly lettered in three sports. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Hawthorn College in 1972. In 1976, Joe began a remarkable 45-year career at Raytheon Company, where his hard work and dedication left a lasting impact until his retirement.

Joe’s love for sports was unwavering. He never missed a game when it came to supporting his nephews in their athletic pursuits, cheering them on with pride. A die-hard Boston sports fan, he especially cherished attending New England Patriots games with his beloved partner of 30 years, Peggy Hanlon. Joe delighted in traveling the country playing in semi-pro softball tournaments. Joe also found joy in dining out, playing golf, boating, fishing aboard the Helcia 3 on the North Shore and being Peggy’s First Mate around Nantucket Sound. Cape Cod was a special place for Joe and Peggy, where they spent significant time enjoying the beauty and tranquility of part-time living there.

Joe is survived by his loving partner, Peggy Hanlon of Westwood, MA, his sister, Carol Gowen of Lynn, MA and his brother, Thomas Sucharewicz and wife Noreen of Peabody, MA. He was the proud uncle of Matthew Sucharewicz and his wife Georgina of Canton, GA, and Peter Sucharewicz and his wife Brianna of Beverly, MA. He adored his great-nephew, Harrison.

Joe will also be missed dearly by the Hanlon family, including many “in-laws” and cherished nieces and nephews to whom he was a beloved uncle.

Known for his sharp wit and great sense of humor, Joe brought laughter to every room he entered. His legacy of jokes and lightheartedness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., Westwood, on Sunday December 22 from 1-4pm. Funeral service and interment will be private.
