Delaney --- Deacon Joseph Leo Delaney, Jr. of Dedham, formerly of Westwood and Waterbury, Conn. died peacefully on Monday morning, November 17, 2014. He is survived by his college sweetheart and wife of 67 years, Patricia Beatty Delaney. He leaves three children and their spouses: Mary and Thomas Hennessey of Wellesley, Joanne and Joseph Delaney III of Milton and Joanne and Joseph Burke of Newmarket N.H. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren: Patricia Helm, Meghan Hennessey, Thomas Hennessey III, Jay Delaney, Michael Delaney, Elizabeth Delaney-Lobo, Patricia McKenna, Ellen Duffy, Kathleen Burke and Peter Burke as well as nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Mary Muse of Brookline, and Jacqueline Beatty of Bal Harbour, Fl.
Joe was ordained into the first class of permanent Deacons in the Archdiocese of Boston, May 1976. He is a graduate of Boston College 1944, a WWII Navy Veteran and late national Director of outdoor Advertising for the Howard Johnson Company.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held in St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church 845 High St. (route 109) Westwood, on Friday from 3:00 to 7:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Margret Mary Church on Saturday morning at 10:00am. Interment New Westwood Cemetery.
