Joseph Patrick Abbis Sr.

Joseph “Pat” Abbis Sr., of Westwood, MA, formerly of Northborough, MA and Roslindale, MA died September 16, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of the late Beatrice C. “Betty” (Sullivan) Abbis for 69 years. Loving father of Anne Marie Sylvester and her husband Stanley of Westwood and the late Joseph P. Abbis Jr. and his wife Pauline of Bellingham. Devoted grandfather of Joseph Abbis and Karen and Michael Sylvester. Brother of Elizabeth Steele of Newton and the late Dominic, Anthony, John and Arthur Abbis and the late Loretta (Abbis) Donovan. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Pat was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of WWII serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater from June 17^th, 1944 thru April 2nd, 1946. He was also a retired Boston Firefighter with 33 years of service.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., Westwood on Friday morning September 22^nd from 9am -10:30am. Following the Visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Margaret Mary Church, 845 High St. Westwood at 11am. Interment with Military Honors at New Westwood Cemetery.
