Valinote, John F., long - time resident of Dover, MA and Fort Myers, FL passed away peacefully on June 23, 2018 from complications related to Parkinsons. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years Joan C. (Powers) Valinote. Loving father of John Valinote Jr. and his late wife Diane of Bedford NY, Thomas Valinote of Thousand Oaks, CA, Mary Ellen Pogue and her husband James of Centennial, CO, Robert Valinote of Dover and David Valinote of Norwood. Proud Poppy to 5 grandchildren, John and Megan Pogue, and Nicole, Cate and Malena Valinote. Brother of Joan Tobin of West Roxbury. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and friends. Graduate of Boston College High School and Brown University (1953) where he was captain of the baseball team. Retired General Manager of Getty Petroleum calling on stations throughout the Northeast. Born at Faulkner Hospital in West Roxbury he loved everything New England, especially sports, going out to dinner, and walking on Matunuck beach in the evenings. He spent years attending his children's high school and college games and sports practices. In 2001 he was inducted into the Boston Baseball Park League Amateur Hall of Fame. John will be remembered for his generosity, sense of humor and kindness. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours at the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., WESTWOOD, on Friday July 6th from 4-7pm. Funeral procession from the funeral home on Saturday morning July 7th at 9am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Most Precious Blood Church, 30 Centre St., Dover at 10am. Interment with military honors at Highland Cemetery, Dover. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to Make a Wish Foundation. John was a U.S. Army Veteran of Korea.
