Beloved son of Maxine (Kennedy) Sloan of Westwood and the late John D. Sloan. Former husband of Carol M. (Smith) Sloan. Loving father of Matthew B. Sloan and his wife Rachel F. Paiste of Boston. Brother of Patricia Sloan Hunt and her husband Trey of Mount Vernon, NY and uncle of Carolyn Sloan Hunt of Albany, NY.
Services and interment are private. John was a history teacher at Westwood High School, a Human Resources executive at International Paper and a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran.
Donations in memory of John can be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. He was so appreciative (and proud) to live in an area where groundbreaking research was being done to address this horrible disease. Donated funds will go to the head and neck cancers fund.
