Carroll, Rev. John P., a retired priest of the Archdiocese of Boston, died peacefully July 8, 2021.

A native of Newton, Carroll graduated from the former Sacred Heart in Newton and St. John's Seminary. He was ordained a priest by Richard Cardinal Cushing on September 29. 1953. Carroll served in many parish communities including Most Blessed Sacrament in Quincy where he was a parochial vicar and celebrated 50 years in the priesthood in 2003.

He is predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Mary (Murphy) Carrol, and sister-in-law, Arlene Carroll. Survived by his brother Daniel Carroll and beloved uncle of Loretta, Daniel (Kristina), Jeannine English, Stephen (Karen), Elena Lindenthal (Jim), and Luke. Lovingly remembered by grand nieces and nephews: Devin, Molly, Leo, Clay, Avery, Matthew, Stephen, Andrew, Meghan, Brianna, Kuth, Von, Dean, Hannah, and Laney.

Devoted to his faith, Father Carroll deeply appreciated the community of priests and parishioner with whom he shared God's work. In his later years, he often expressed heartfelt gratitude for those who created a caring circle of support around him, especially the staff at St. Elizabeth Seton Residence.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., Westwood on Tuesday July 13th from 9am to 10:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Denis Church, 157 Washington St., Westwood at 11am. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Fr. Carroll's memory may be made to Elizabeth Seton Residence, 125 Oakland Street, Wellesley, MA 02481.
