CARDELLI - John “Giovanni”, of Westwood, formerly of Roslindale, died March 10th, 2011. Beloved husband of Solomina (Cibotti) Cardelli for 62 years. Loving father of Maria Pheeny and her husband Stephen of Falmouth and Anna Federico of Westwood together with Anthony Cavossa, Jr. of Foxboro. Devoted “Nonno” to Jonathan Pheeny of Falmouth, Nicole Mele and her husband Steven of Mashpee; Joseph Federico of Westwood and Cristina Federico of Chestnut Hill. Great grandfather to Julia and Lila Mele of Mashpee. Brother to Quintino Cardelli and the late Luciano, Alfredo, Elivio, Anita and Ferdinando all of Italy.
John was born in Teramo, Italy in 1922. He served in World War II and was captured by the Germans as a prisoner of war for 18 months. He immigrated to America in 1956; in 1968 he founded Charm Construction. He later purchased and developed the land that has become Taunton Depot.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St. (off Route 109) Westwood on Monday March 14th from 4 to 8pm. The funeral will commence from the funeral home on Tuesday morning March 15th at 9am followed by a Mass of the Christian Burial in St. Denis Church, Westwood at 10am. Interment at New Westwood Cemetery.
