Joanne L. Sprague

Sprague, Joanne L., age 76, of Virginia Beach, VA passed away peacefully on Oct 25, 2018. She was born in Westwood, MA on January 20, 1943. Joanne was the daughter of Stanley & Edith Sprague. She was a graduate of Westwood High School and Burdette College. She spent most of her professional career as a Civil Service employee working for the Navy as a paralegal. Joanne received several Letters of Commendation as well as numerous awards as an outstanding employee during her time with the Navy.
Joanne was avid antique collector. She loved to travel and in particular enjoyed Scotland where she enjoyed visiting with many of her close relatives.
Joanne enjoyed living at Atlantic Shores Retirement Community and in particular enjoyed her close friendship with Percy Betts and Sherry Irving. The family especially wants to thank Percy Betts for his loving care of Joanne as she battled serious health issues.
Joanne is survived by her sister, Judith Selig, brother-in- law, George Selig, nieces, Cynthia Towne, Cheryl Ludvik and her husband, Jeff as well as 4 grandnieces and 2 grandnephews.
A private family burial service will be held at New Westwood Cemetery, Westwood, MA on Friday Nov. 16, 2018. Following the burial, a Memorial Service will be celebrated at 11am at the First Parish of Westwood United Church, 252 Nahatan St. Westwood.
Joanne requested that in lieu of flowers she would like donations to be sent to your local animal rescue league.
