Joanne Radner, 59, of Newbury, MA, formerly of Westwood, MA, passed away peacefully at home on March 9 surrounded by her family.
Born to the late Frederick and Rita Marcelina on January 2, 1964, in Springfield, MA, Joanne grew up in Longmeadow, MA. She graduated from Boston University in 1986 with a nursing degree and worked for many years at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, the New England Organ Bank, and the VNA.
She married her high school sweetheart Greg Radner in 1987, and they lived together in Boston before moving to Westwood to raise a family. They relocated to Newbury in 2020.
A 3-time cancer survivor, Joanne faced her latest battle with dignity, grace, and independence, never letting her struggle define her or get in the way of the things she loved: cooking restaurant-quality meals, skiing with family in Vermont, walking the woods and running the roads of Westwood, book clubbing with friends, and hanging out on the beach in Plum Island. Her proudest achievement was raising three wonderful daughters.
Joanne was loved by many and will be remembered with great fondness for her humor, resiliency, and courage. She is survived by her husband Greg, and her three children: Zoe (and Glen) Donovan, Madeline, and Jensen. She is the beloved sister of her three younger brothers.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 15 from 4-7pm at Holden-Dunn-Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St in Westwood, MA. Celebration of Life to be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute dana-farber.org.
