BRAWLEY – Joan E (McParland) of Quincy, Westwood, Norfolk and Harwich Port died December 13, 2017. She was 85. Beloved wife of the late Robert L Brawley. Joan grew up in Quincy married Bob in 1958 and made Westwood their home for the next 30 years. Joan was an extremely active member of the Westwood Community. Joan taught a few generations of Westwood's children to swim at Hale Reservation. She also was a swim coach, School Committee member, Cub and Girl Scout Leader, St Margaret Mary's Sodality, Southwood/Norwood Hospital Auxiliary. Joan skied, swam and played tennis into her 70's. Joan and Bob retired in Harwich Port where she enjoyed spending time with her family at Red River Beach.
Joan is survived by her children Robert F. Brawley and his wife Maureen of Rehoboth, MA; James L. Brawley and his wife Jill of West Hartford, CT; and Joanne Zobbi and her husband Scott of Harvard, MA. Grandmother of Kevin, Matthew, Thomas, and Caitlin Brawley of Rehoboth; Laura Brawley of West Hartford; and John, Matthew, and Timothy Zobbi of Harvard. Sister of the late Nancy Nyhan of Cambridge, Joseph McParland of Harwich Port, Ellen Murphy of Oregon. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Holden, Dunn, Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St. (off Rt. 109) Westwood on Sunday December 17th from 2-5pm. The funeral will begin at the funeral home on Monday morning December 18th at 9am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret Mary Church at 10am. Interment at New Westwood Cemetery.
