Jeanne Mary Manning of Westwood, MA died peacefully on April 13, 2023 at the age of 97. She was born in Žatec (Saaz), Czechoslovakia to the late Franz and Martha (Telatko) Stern. She was proceeded in death by her sister Margot Pratt. She was the beloved mother of Judith (Manning) Brown of Medfield, MA and Robert S. Manning of Boston, MA; mother-in-law of Lawrence Brown and Emily Synk; grandmother of Colleen (Brown) Christie of Medway, MA; Katelyn (Brown) Pickering of Westwood, MA, and Alexander and William Manning of Boston, MA; great-grandsons Aidan and Brooks Christie and Henry and Charles Pickering.
Jeanne and her family moved to the U.S. in 1941. She was a graduate of Bucknell University and Boston University School of Social Work. She worked as a social worker at Quincy City Hospital and a permanent substitute teacher in the Boston Public Schools. She loved her family, had a passion for living life to its fullest, charmed everyone she met, and was admired by all who knew her. Her passions in life were many: she loved skiing, playing golf, following the Boston Bruins and Red Sox, traveling, playing bridge, visiting museums, going to concerts and plays, making friends, attending family gatherings, and seeing her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. She will be missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Holden, Dunn, and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., Westwood, MA on May 1, 2023 from 4–7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to UNICEF
