SULLIVAN, James J. of Norwood, MA and Yarmouthport, MA, age 90, passed peacefully on August 3, 2022 at his home on Cape Cod surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Joan E. (Brown) Sullivan for 64 years, and son of John C. and Mary V. Sullivan of West Roxbury. Loving father of Maureen Morrissey of Cambridge, Kevin Sullivan and wife Jennifer of Hingham, Nancy Bussiere and husband Daniel of Norwood, and James Sullivan and wife Maryanne of Medfield. Proud "Poppi Jim" to Katherine, James, and Eric Sullivan; Robert and Caroline Bussiere; and Erin, David, and Finch Sullivan. Survived by his loving sisters Vita Loiacono, and Catherine O'Rourke, her husband Leo as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his siblings Jeanne Manning, John Sullivan, and Patricia Keady.
Jim cherished his West Roxbury childhood filled with great adventures including working with horses that fostered a lifelong love of animals. He was also at home in his garden where his nurturing and caring personality was on full display. He thoroughly enjoyed any family activity and took great pride in encouraging and watching his grandchildren pursue their dreams. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., WESTWOOD, on Monday, Aug. 8th from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday morning Aug. 9th at 11am in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington St., Norwood. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
