James P. Petrakos of Westwood, died December 6th, 2012. Beloved husband of Frances (Hatzopoulos) Petrakos for 60 years. Loving father of Pamela Watson of Rye NH, Theodore Petrakos and his wife Sarah of Norfolk and Diana Petrakos of Westwood. Devoted grandfather of Alexandria and Hunter Watson and James Petrakos. Son of the late Peter and Pauline, brother of the late Stella Pappas, Katherine Petrakos and Steve Petrakos. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Jim was a decorated U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII who flew with the 436th Troop Carrier Group (79th Troop Carrier Squadron) in the European theatre. He participated in D-Day; campaigns in Rome-Arno, Southern France, and Northern France; Operation Market-Garden in Holland; the Battle of the Bulge; and the invasion of the Rhineland.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St. (off Route 109) Westwood on Monday Dec. 10th from 5-8pm. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Tuesday morning Dec. 11th at 10am in St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 57 Brown St., Weston. Interment at New Westwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's memory to the St. Demetrios Building Fund at the address indicated above.
