King, James W., "Jim" or "Billy", 76, of Westwood, formerly of Pembroke, passed away on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, 2018 at The Maples in Wrentham.
Billy, as he was known to his family and childhood friends, was born on October 20, 1941 in Quincy to James and Mary (Guilfoy) King. Following his graduation from Boston English High School in 1960, he immediately joined the United States Coast Guard and eventually served in the Navy and Army National Guard Reserves before retiring after 25 years of military service. After growing up in the Neponset area of Dorchester where he was surrounded by his large extended family, Billy and his family moved to Pembroke where he lived for over 40 years before semi-retiring in Westwood so that he and his wife could live closer to their children and grandchildren. In both the military and private sectors, he was an institutional chef skilled at feeding hundreds of people every day.
Billy is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 54 years, Anna (Medzorian) King; his three daughters, Gerianne Patti and her husband Dr. Paul Patti of Nashua, NH; Karen Allen and her husband, Tom of Walpole; and Dr. Patti Fletcher and her husband, Chris of South Natick; four grandchildren, Thomas and Christopher Allen, and Annabella and Gabriella Fletcher and his beloved grand-puppy Winnie; his sisters Virginia Reardon, Maryellen McGrath, and Karol Timmons and his brother, Richard King as well as several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews,. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary as well as his brother, Francis X. King.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, 10:00 – 11:00 am, , followed immediately by a celebration of life service at 11:00 am at Holden-Dunn-Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock Street, Westwood. All are welcome to join the family immediately following the service for a luncheon at The Colonial House, 33 Savin Avenue, Norwood. An interment will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne promptly on June 6th at 11:30 am, followed by a final celebration at Mezza Luna, 253 Main St, Buzzards Bay.
