Gloria Alicia Oates was born on September 14, 1929 in Paducah, Kentucky to Henry V. Oates and Nannie McCreary. She moved to Saint Louis, Missouri in the 1930s and attended Vashon High School in Saint Louis. During her lifetime she instilled the following values in her children: a hard work ethic, the importance of education, and stressed good citizenship and excellence in endeavors.
Gloria worked in the medical field for approximately 40 years and retired from Saint Louis University Hospital as Unit Secretary in the mid 1990s. While living in Saint Louis she was a member of the Saint Alphonsus Rock Church choir. In 2003 Gloria relocated to Foxborough, Massachusetts. Later she moved to Westwood and became a member of St. Margaret Mary Parish.
She is survived by her daughter, LaRoyce Stringer, her son, Vladimir Stevens and his spouse, Paul Aronian, her grand daughter, Leila Stringer and her great grandson, Quinton Coneal of San Diego, California.
She died on March 23, 2017 while under home hospice care. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Henry Arthur Oates and Gerald Oates.
She will be greatly missed.

There will be no visiting hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday morning April 3rd, 2017 at 10am in St. Margaret Mary Church, 845 High St., Westwood. Burial will be private.
