Gloria C. Flahive

d. February 22, 2021

FLAHIVE, Gloria C. (McPhee) R.N, 83, of Westwood, MA entered into eternal peace on February 22nd at her home surrounded by love. After a long life of giving, she leaves behind her devoted husband and best friend of 60 years, Charles W. "Skippy" and her loving sons Charles W. Jr and Melissa of Maine, John F. and Laure of South Carolina, and her daughter Gretchen A. (Wiik) and John of Massachusetts. She was the proud grandmother of Katelyn, Megan, Kacie, Morgan, Patrick, Connor, Tyler, and Sarah and the great-grandmother of Michael and Marie. Loved Sister-in-law of Robert and Christine of CA, Paul and Linda of CA, William and Jean of Maine, Jane of Maine, Annamae and her late husband Barry of MA, and James of MA. Aunt Gloria to many nieces and nephews. So many fun times and family memories. She was truly blessed.

Gloria was born in Wakefield, MA to the late Hugh H. and Josephine M. (O'Callahan) McPhee and is pre-deceased by her siblings Hugh, Irene, and John. She attended Wakefield High School and achieved her nursing degree from Malden Hospital School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse and a member of the ANA. Gloria began her nursing career as a surgical nurse at the Malden Hospital. She worked at the Faulkner Hospital in Jamaica Plain for over 42 years in the ICU, Telemetry, nursing floors, and Continued Care departments. She was considered a legend by many of her co-workers and patients. She truly lived a life of service involved in many organizations as her children were growing up. A den leader for Cub Scouts, cookie lady for the Girl Scouts, C.C.D. instructor, and various sports Booster Clubs. She was completely dedicated to her beautiful family and brought peace and happiness to the lives of others.
She and her family enjoyed reading, camping, travelling, the ocean, and their home in Sebago Lake, Maine. She could be found at hockey rinks, on sidelines, in bleachers, dance recitals, and horse rings of all the many sporting events of her children and grandchildren, even travelling out of the country and overseas to be part of it all. Her family was her life and Gloria's legacy will continue through her children and grandchildren.
We would like to thank her Primary Care Physician Dr. Katherine McGowan and the Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice of Needham for their amazing loving care.

Due to COVID-19, we will celebrate Gloria's life in a Memorial Mass at a later date. We will have a drive by reception to offer condolences to Charles and the family at the Holden-Dunn Lawler Funeral Home in Westwood, MA on Sunday, February 28th at 2 p.m. Guests are asked to enter the line on Hartford Street at 2 p.m. Interment will be private.
