BRUNT – A. Gloria (Iverson), of Norwood, died January 10th, 2011.

Beloved mother of Barbara B. Waterhouse and her husband James of Westwood and the late Charles W. Brunt Jr. Devoted grandmother of Lee and Gail Waterhouse. Sister of Robert Iverson of Dedham, David Iverson of Medfield, Connie Waldron of FL and the late Daurice McIntyre and George and John Iverson. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet with Gloria’s family in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St. (off Route 109) Westwood on Monday January 17th from 4-7pm. A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Tuesday morning January 18th at 10am in the Christ Episcopal Church, 1132 Highland Ave., Needham. Interment will follow the service at Mount Hope Cemetery, Roslindale.

Gloria had a life-long involvement with creative music, writing children’s stories, poetry and plays. At 17 she wrote a song, “Lonely for my Love,” that was performed on Broadway and recorded by Ella Fitzgerald. During World War II Gloria toured with the U.S.O. performing musical productions at veterans’ hospitals. Shortly after the war she became a soloist with the Clearwater Symphony Orchestra in Florida. Returning to Boston, Gloria went on to become a square dance teacher and caller, traveling throughout New England and the tri-state area, as well as eight national square dance conventions. For four years she wrote and choreographed a 30 minute television show on Boston’s WBZ TV. For the past 15 years Gloria taught square dancing at the Norwood Senior Center. There she also formed a theatre group and wrote and directed musical plays. She had recently become the director of the Norwood Senior Center’s Glee Club.
