George “Lefty” Wallace, age 94, of Mansfield, formerly of Westwood, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 2nd, 2024. 

He was the beloved husband of the late Rose-Marie Wallace to whom he was married for nearly 68 years. Father of Stephen and his wife Karen of Mansfield, Robert and his wife Trudy of Norwood, George and his wife Linda of Mansfield, and Mark and his partner Barbara Frangie of Norwood. George was the proud and very close “Papa” to each of his grandchildren: Daniel Wallace, Lindsay Grant, David Wallace, Eric Wallace, Robert Wallace, Patrick Wallace, Michael Wallace, Carolyn Driscoll, Anthony Frangie, and Jake Frangie. He was also the “Great- Papa” of Harrison, Bowen, and Daphne Grant, Thomas, Michael, and Jonathan Wallace, Hunter and Emma Driscoll, Grace, Olivia, and Ryan Frangie, and Sienna and Cade Frangie. He was the son of the late William and Katherine (Casey) Wallace, Brother of the late James and Barbara (Galucci) Wallace, brother of Katherine (Wallace) Perkins and her late husband, Donald, and Brother-in-Law of the late Lawrence and his wife, Nancy Eppolito. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. 

George was a talented Track and Football star at Roslindale High School where he graduated in 1948. He then went onto serve in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Missouri BB63. 

George was a 71 Year Member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W.), Local 103, which he retired from, as an Outside Super, in 1990.

He was active in his Westwood and Norwood communities, loyal Usher for numerous years at St. Denis Church in Westwood, and Pack Leader for the Islington Cub Scouts. He was past President and Coach of Westwood Youth Hockey and Little League, Past President of the Norwood Bowling Club, where he bowled for several years, and Past President of the Norwood Men’s Retirement Club. He was also a member of the Westwood Boosters, the Norwood Elks, and (former) Norwood American Legion. He also loved to golf. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours in the Holden, Dunn, and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., WESTWOOD, on Monday, October 7th, 2024 from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 8th at 10am in St. Denis Church, 157 Washington St., Westwood. Interment with U.S. Navy Military Honors at New Westwood Cemetery.
