LOMBARDI – Estelle M., formerly of Hyde Park, Westwood and Lexington passed away on April 2nd 2015 after a long illness. Born in Boston in 1921, beloved daughter of Joseph and Helena (Jones) Lombardi and loving sister of the late Paul, Joseph and Thomas Lombardi. Estelle received her bachelor of science degree from Boston College School of Nursing in 1960 and a Master of Science in Education from Northeastern University in 1971. Estelle began working at Youville Hospital and Rehabilitation Center in 1948. In the early 1970's she became a member of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing; and a committee member on the Council of Practical Nursing in the Massachusetts/Rhode Island League for Nursing. She was a member of the Joint Task Force to establish a set of coordinated rules and regulations governing the schools of nursing. She was also a committee Advisory member for the nursing program at Laboure College. Her career at Youville advanced. She became an assistant director and Educational coordinator in 1960. In 1970 she was appointed the first lay director of the school, a position that she held until her retirement in 1987. In May 1995, in recognition of her almost 40 years of service to Youville Hospital, she was presented with the St. Marguerite d'Youville Humanitarian Award. Estelle leaves behind a sister in law, Phyllis Lombardi of Glastonbury, CT. Nephews and Nieces, Brian & Marjorie Lombardi, Brockton, MA, Thomas & Ann Marie Lombardi, Newbury, NH, Mary & Michael Simms, Braintree, MA, Paul & Ellen Lombardi, Bolton, CT and Phillip Lombardi, Hartford, CT. Also 7 great nephews and nieces and 3 great-great nephews and nieces.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St. (off Route 109) Westwood on Wednesday morning April 8th from 8:30 -10:30am. Following the visitation a Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated in St. Denis Church, 157 Washington St., Westwood at 11am. Interment at Forest Hills Cemetery, Jamaica Plain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Estelle's memory to the John Adams Healthcare Center, Payable to Resident Council Fund for Activities, 211 Franklin St., Quincy, MA 02169.
